FAQ
FUAQ
How can the progress of hydration of cement be determined?

Progress of hydration can be determined by measurement of:-

  •  amount of Ca(OH)2 in the paste
  •  the heat evolved by hydration
  • specific gravity of the paste
  •  the amount of chemically combined water
  •  the amount of unhydrated cement present using X-ray quantitative analysis.
  •  directly from strength of the paste
Recently thermo-gravimetric techniques and continuous X-ray diffraction scanning of wet pastes undergoing hydration have been successfully used in studying early reactions.
