Progress of hydration can be determined by
measurement of:-
- amount
of Ca(OH)2 in the paste
- the
heat evolved by hydration
- specific
gravity of the paste
- the
amount of chemically combined water
- the
amount of unhydrated cement present using X-ray quantitative analysis.
- directly
from strength of the paste
Recently thermo-gravimetric techniques and continuous
X-ray diffraction scanning of wet pastes undergoing hydration have been
successfully used in studying early reactions.
