Definitions & History

What is “Flow”

Flow is defined as the increase in average diameter of a specified volume of cement paste, mortar or concrete placed in a specified shape on a standard table using a specified mold, when it is rocked by dropping the table in a specified manner.

Some standard tests require the mortar to have a water content that provides required flow level. This necessitates conducting of Flow test (Flow Table test) even though this test is not usually included in hydraulic cement specifications.
