Hydration
is a chemical reaction in which the major compounds in cement form chemical
bonds with water molecules and become hydrates or hydration products.

Anhydrous cement
acquires adhesive property only when it is mixed with water. The chemical
reactions that take place between cement & water are collectively referred
to as hydration of cement.
Anhydrous cement compounds form hydrated compounds of very low solubility
during the process of Hydration.
