What is the importance of cooling rate of Clinker?

Strength properties of cement are significantly influenced by cooling rate of clinker.

A moderate rate of cooling (i.e. clinker brought down to a temperature of 5000C from 12000C in 15 min & from 5000C to atmospheric temperature in 10min) results in higher strength.
