What are the methods employed (other than chemical analysis) to control the quality of clinker?

(i) Reflected light optical microscopy of polished & etched section of clinker followed by point count of areas occupied by different compounds.

 (ii) X Ray diffraction of powder specimen is done. Calibration curves based on known mixtures of pure compounds are used to estimate the compound composition.

(iii) A rough & ready method is to measure weight/litre of clinker. A litre weight of about 1200gms is found to be satisfactory.
